Scientific Name:  Lagenorhynchus albirostris 


Global Population


Northern N. Atlantic only, ranging north to pack ice edge. In U.S Atlantic, from New England north. Seen off Cape Cod and in the Gulf of Maine April-November.


Description and Natural History


Physical Description 
Adult male: 3.5m, 500kg
Adult female: 3.0m, 300 kg
Neonate(newborn): 1.2m, 41kg 

Natural History
Sexually mature at 2.5m in length. Breed in warm water months. Single calf born June-September after gestation of about 12 months. Single to groups of hundreds. Fast swimmers; may breach or bow ride. Have been seen with fin, killer, and other whales.
